Even though I'm very anti asymmetrical, I'm more of a rule follower than I am type a, so here are my blocks. Both my grandmothers married the loves of their lives, but with that love, whether it was the time period, or the dominance in my grandfather's characters, or just one of those things, they each gave up a big part of their personalities when they married. My grandma Morgan lived "in town" in a small 2 bedroom with 4 kids and 1 bathroom. Things were nice but nothing really modern. The house was always dark to save electricity and every thing she did had to be run by my grandpa. Until 1 day she was given a chance to remodel that tiny bathroom. 50 years after moving into that house, and she did the whole thing pink. Bright mauve toilet, floral everything. It makes me laugh to think of my PaPa in that pink bathroom. My grandma futch married a career military man and her life was set on his whims. After he retired he didn't like the water, so she accommodated and didn't go to the beach. He liked the country, she liked the city but guess where they lived. Their house was also dark, not a lot of windows because grandpa didn't like things too bright. When he passed she sold the country house, moved to town with a house filled with sky lights and windows. Dorris Wedding light blue items to wear of the prom

For me, half a modern is about these women with this light in their spirit that was still deep inside them and how they protected that light and spirit and sought to reconcile it with their sense of love and duty for the men that they loved.

Anyway here are my 2 blocks, mauve bathroom and skylights
